Answer
When launching SCIEX OS software, the error message “A different user currently has another instance of SCIEX OS open” is received, preventing users from accessing SCIEX OS software, even if no other users have accessed the software.
There are a few reasons why this error message gets generated:
1) The ClearCore2 software service was stopped while the software was open.
2) A user logged out of Windows while SCIEX OS software was open, and another user attempted to log in and launch the software on the same PC.
3) A concurrent license configured with multiple seats is in use, and the software is installed on a remote hub. In this case, you should contact technical support to see if this configuration is supported.
When multiple users of SCIEX OS software are on the same PC, they must close the software correctly and then log out of Windows. (Switching users is not acceptable; the user must fully log out of Windows.)
The easiest way to resolve this issue is to open the software services, navigate to the ClearCore2 service, and then stop it. Then, the software should be relaunched.
Stopping the software service may take some time (1-2 min); users should refrain from clicking anything else until the service control box closes.
If the issue is unresolved, users should close all applications and restart the computer. If the issue persists, reinstallation of software could be attempted as the final solution. Contact Sciex Technical Support for additional assistance.
